The team from Sahan Cares were on hand to celebrate a significant national achievement that recognised all their staff’s efforts over the past year.
At last Friday’s (Dec 3) prestigious 2020/21 SME National Business Awards ceremony, held at Wembley Stadium, the Hillingdon family-run company was awarded silver in the Community Business of the Year.
The award focused on Sahan Cares approach to empowering economically inactive women from refugee backgrounds to gain employment and free training. It facilitates specialised, in-house training for disadvantaged groups and works with local authorities to provide sustained and flexible job opportunities.
A total of 150 people have been trained as specialised carers enabling them to provide quality home care and supported living to elderly and vulnerable members of society,
Through the initiative, over 85% of those who took part have been employed with Sahan Cares to support those in need across West London. The rest have gained employment elsewhere.
The positive impact means they can support their families and communities financially and help reduce the burden faced by local authorities and the Department of Work and Pensions from those seeking assistance for housing, council tax and unemployment benefits.

The ceremony came on the heels of Sahan Cares recently winning the national Purpose Before Profit category at The Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards. It also won the Health and Wellbeing Business of the Year award at the West London Business Awards
